The World Freestyle Football Association has announced today that the Finals of WFFA Pulse Algiers, the official African qualifier for the 2024 World Freestyle Football Championship, will finally take place on an online basis on October 24.

The restrictions imposed by the Algerian government in the process of obtaining visas for the participating freestylers have prevented a significant number of said athletes from entering the country, which in turn has triggered the decision of the Association to change the format of the tournament to ensure fair participation for all qualified sportspeople.

The Finals of WFFA Pulse Algiers will now take place as a live online event on the YouTube, Facebook and Twitch channels of the Association. More details will be announced on the official social channels of the WFFA!

The 2023 Freestyle Football global circuit is about to reach its climax: Pulse Online, the global digital qualifier for the Finals of the World Freestyle Football Championship, is around the corner!

This last instalment of the 2023 Pulse Series is open to freestylers from all around the world who did not participate in any physical Pulse Event. The competition will happen on a fully online basis to allow as many freestylers as possible to participate.

The signups process will open on September 20th and close on September 25th; there will be no extensions, so all athletes who haven’t signed up by the end of the registration period will not be allowed to compete. Athletes under the age of 18 will be allowed to participate, but they will need to upload a signed Parental Form to the GameDay widget at the end of the registration process.

All results from the competition will be published on the official Tournify page of the event. The best two freestylers (one male and one female) will earn themselves a trip to Nairobi, Kenya to participate in the World Freestyle Football Championship Finals: for more details, check the sections below!

    Registration

Signing up for Pulse Online has a cost of 5€. The registration process will be open between September 20th at 16h CEST and September 25th at 23:59h CEST. Important: no new signups will be accepted after September 25th, so make sure to register on time!

To sign up, follow this process:

    1. Go to the official Registration Page of the event and follow the signups process: if you’re under the age of 18, please remember to upload the corresponding Parental Form when required
    2. When your participation is approved, you will receive a Whatsapp message and you will be able to send the qualification video
    3. The team of judges will select the best videos and rank them to progress to the next stage of the competition

    IMPORTANT:

    • Only the freestylers who have not competed in any physical Pulse Event during the 2023 season (be it because they didn’t register or because they signed up but couldn’t participate due to injury) will be allowed to participate in Pulse Online
    • Any freestyler who tries to sign up for Pulse Online after having already participated in a physical Pulse Event will be immediately disqualified; the WFFA reserves the right to take further punitive action against any athlete who tries to take advantage of the format by registering twice

    Competition structure

Pulse Online will happen on a completely digital basis via Whatsapp following this timeline:

    1. Registration process: open between September 20th and September 25th. No registrations will be accepted after September 25th
    2. Qualification stage: open between September 26th and September 29th. Freestylers will be asked to send their qualification videos between those dates. No videos will be accepted after September 29th
    3. Circles: happening via Whatsapp between October 2nd and October 12th
    4. Grand Finals: happening in a live online show on the WFFA channels between November 4th and 5th; participants will receive all necessary information beforehand so they can prepare accordingly

    Format

In the qualification stage, the clips of the participants will be evaluated by three different judges, who will give them scores on a scale from 1 to 10. The marks from the three judges will be added up, and the participants will then be ranked according to their total score. In case of a score draw between two freestylers, a judge selected by the Sports Committee will intervene and use his quality vote to break the tie.

The circles will then be created according to the aforementioned ranking from the qualification stage and following the usual seeding procedure: the freestyler ranked first will be placed in a group with the last, the second with the second last, and so on.

In the circles, three judges will evaluate and score each of the three videos sent by the participants on a scale of 1 to 10. The best-ranked freestylers across all the circles will progress onto the next stage; the general ranking coming from these circles (that is, the total amount of points earned by each freestyler, accumulating the points earned by each of their three videos) will be used to determine the battles in the knockout stage. In case of a score draw between two freestylers, the results of the qualification stage will be used to break the tie.

The knockout rounds will feature live battles, including Top 8 for men and Top 4 for women, on an online show which will happen on the weekend of October 21st and will be broadcast on the official channels of the WFFA.

All results from the competition will be published on the official Tournify page of the event.

    Judges

Pulse Mombasa will be evaluated by an elite team of judges that will be announced on the official WFFA channels. Stay tuned for more details!

Each of the judges will review and evaluate every clip from the participants individually and independently. In the event of a draw during a battle or in the qualification stage, the members of the WFFA Sports Committee will jump in and break the tie.
