Laura Biondo and Sebastián ‘Machine’ Peña win the title and the hearts of the fans at Pulse Córdoba 2024

The 2024 edition of WFFA Pulse Córdoba took place in Argentina between September 25th and 29th and brought the South American scene of Freestyle Football to a whole new level. The competition, organised in cooperation with the Asociación Cordobesa de Freestyle Futbol, featured not just a 1×1 battles competition to determine the seven South American representatives at the World Freestyle Football Championship later this year (4 women and 3 men), but also a series of tournaments (Challenge, Sick Three, Panna 1×1, Show Flow, Iron Man & Woman, and Routines) for the Pan American community to showcase all their skills and passion for the sport.

The qualifiers were held between September 25th and 27th at the legendary Estadio Kempes, a massive stadium that was once an official venue for the FIFA World Cup 1978, with the Finals happening on September 29th at the Plaza España, located at the very centre of the city. The local crowd enjoyed a magnificent show at the latter, with hundreds of fans cheering for the tricks of the best South American freestylers.

The competition crowned two legends of the sport: Laura Biondo, from Venezuela, took the victory in the female category, while Sebastián ‘Machine’ Peña, from Colombia, added his second consecutive gold in the tournament.

The excitement did not end there, as five more freestylers (two men and two women) earned their places in the upcoming World Finals:

The adventure of the Pulse Series doesn’t stop here, though, and the competition will travel now to Jakarta, Indonesia to crown the Asia-Pacific regional champions and find seven more World Finalists – a total of three ladies and four gentlemen.

Pulse Online 2024

The 2024 edition of the Pulse Series is coming to an end in style: Pulse Online, the global, digital qualifier for the Finals of the World Freestyle Football Championship, is around the corner!

This last instalment of this year’s Pulse Series will take place on a fully digital basis between September 20th and October 20th. The best 2 freestylers (one male and one female) will earn themselves a trip to the World Freestyle Football Championship!

This Pulse Event will host a 1×1 battles competition open to all freestylers in the world who have NOT participated in any previous physical Pulse Event this year. Freestylers who registered for other Pulse Events but couldn’t join them (e.g. due to injury), though, are allowed to sign up and participate.

The signups process for this event will open on September 5th and close on September 19th at 23:59h CEST: there will be no extensions, so all athletes who haven’t signed up by the end of the registration period will not be allowed to compete.

We expect all participants to sign up using the GameDay widget, the link to which is available above; however, if a freestyler finds issues in the payment process or doesn’t have the ability to pay via credit card or PayPal, we kindly ask them to send us an email at pulse-series@thewffa.org and we’ll find an alternative solution for them.

Athletes under the age of 18 will be allowed to participate, but they will need to upload a signed Parental Form at the end of the registration process. For more details, check the links below!

WFFA Pulse CDMX 2024 hosts a historic comeback as local legend M3mo and US superstar Caitlyn Schrepfer clinch gold

WFFA Pulse CDMX 2024, the second edition of the Pulse Series on North American soil, was hosted in the vibrant Ciudad de México between July 27th and 28th. The competition featured an intense 1×1 battle format, where the region’s top freestylers clashed to determine the champions of the male and female categories. A specially customised indoor stage witnessed the exploits of the most skilful Freestyle Football athletes in North America, who once again pushed the boundaries of the sport with their mind-blowing tricks.

In the female bracket, the defending North American champion imposed her rule again as Caitlyn Schrepfer from the USA beat Mathilde Fortier from Canada in the final. The male bracket was one for the ages, as local Mexican hero Guillermo ‘M3mo’ Mondragón came back after a long absence from the competitive circuit and made history beating two favourites for the title in a row — Patrick Shaw from the USA in the semifinals and Jeff ‘Pagu’ Chacón from Costa Rica in the final.

Apart from the glory of their winner and runner-up honours, the finalists in both the male and female categories also earned their spots in the upcoming World Freestyle Football Championship, which will happen later this year in a location still to be announced.

The circuit now travels to Argentina for a new spectacular showdown at WFFA Pulse Córdoba 2024, where the best freestylers in South America will face off against each other between September 25th and 29th to cover seven more spots (four for women and three for men) at the World Finals later in the year.

Pulse Jakarta 2024

The global competitive circuit of the WFFA returns to the Far East for yet another extraordinary Freestyle Football competition: Pulse Jakarta, the Asia-Pacific qualifier for the Finals of the World Freestyle Football Championship, is around the corner!

This new instalment of the Pulse Series will take place at the Pluit Village Mall in Jakarta, Indonesia between October 5th and 6th. The best 7 freestylers (4 males and 3 females) will earn themselves a trip to the World Freestyle Football Championship!

This Pulse Event will host a 1×1 battles competition open to all freestylers from the Asia-Pacific region. To ensure that their country is eligible for this competition, freestylers can check the official Regional Division of the WFFA.

The signups process for this event will open on July 12th and close on September 30th; there will be no extensions, so all athletes who haven’t signed up by the end of the registration period will not be allowed to compete.

The WFFA has set up a refund policy for registrations for all Pulse Events: athletes who can’t travel due to a justified reason (i.e. sickness, injury or denial of travel visa) can ask for their money back, but in the case of the Jakarta event, only before September 20th.

We expect all participants to sign up using the GameDay widget, the link to which is available above; however, if a freestyler finds issues in the payment process or doesn’t have the ability to pay via credit card or PayPal, we kindly ask them to send us an email at pulse-series@thewffa.org and we’ll find an alternative solution for them.

All athletes are reminded that it is not possible to participate in two Pulse Events in the same year; however, if a freestyler signs up for a qualifier and gets injured before having been able to compete in it, they will be allowed to move their registration to Pulse Online later in the year.

The organising committee strongly recommends all athletes who need a visa to get their invitation letter first using the widget available below. Once they are cleared to travel, they may sign up as participants.

Athletes under the age of 18 will be allowed to participate, but they will need to upload a signed Parental Form at the end of the registration process. For more details, check the links below!

Local hero Aguska Mnich and French rising star Tristan Gac earn extraordinary wins at WFFA Pulse Sopot 2024

WFFA Pulse Sopot 2024, the second European Pulse Event in history, took place between June 8th and 9th in the beautiful coastal city of Sopot, Poland. The competition featured an intense 1×1 battle format, where the continent’s top freestylers clashed to determine the champions of the male and female categories. A packed arena, specially constructed for the event, witnessed the tricks of the most skilful Freestyle Football athletes in the continent, who once again pushed the boundaries of the sport and took it to a whole new level.

In the female bracket, the World Champion beat the Super Ball Champion, as local Polish hero Aguska Mnich came out on top after a thrilling final against extraordinary British talent Izzy Wilkins. The male final was also exhilarating, with young starlet Tristan Gac from France beating the current Super Ball champion, Jesse Marlet from the Netherlands.

Apart from the four finalists, six more world-class athletes (three females and three males) earned their places in the upcoming World Freestyle Football Championship:

The Finals of the African Freestyle Football Championship move location to increase in size: enter WFFA Pulse Algiers

The World Freestyle Football Association, together with prestigious Nigerian agency and event co-organisers Feet’n’Tricks, announced today that the live Finals of the official African Freestyle Football Championship would have a new, exciting location: instead of Lagos, Nigeria, the live event will take place in the city of Algiers, Algeria. This exciting event will also happen at a later date in the year, moving from July 13 to October 18.

The revamped WFFA Pulse Algiers 2024 will grow and offer more slots for female athletes, doubling the slots in the Finals from 4 to 8. The current 16 slots for male freestylers will be maintained, and just as announced at the beginning of the season, all 24 finalists will be flown from their respective countries to Algeria with all transport and accommodation costs covered. The online qualifier will happen just as planned and kick off on May 20th.

On top of the extended Finals, the first-place winners in both the men’s and women’s categories will receive a cash prize of $5,000 USD each, as well as an all-expenses-paid ticket for the World Freestyle Football Championship later in the year. There will also be special awards for the 2nd and 3rd places.

The global competitive circuit of the WFFA returns to the Americas for yet another thrilling Freestyle Football competition: Pulse Córdoba, the South American qualifier for the Finals of the World Freestyle Football Championship, is around the corner!

This new instalment of the Pulse Series will take place in Córdoba, Argentina, between September 25th and 29th. The best 7 freestylers (3 males and 4 females, with an extra slot for women after last year’s success) will earn themselves a trip to the World Freestyle Football Championship!

Pulse Córdoba 2024 will offer a 1×1 Battles competition, but unlike last year, this tournament will be open to South American freestylers only, following the Regional Division of the WFFA in place since early 2022. This change is due to Pulse CDMX 2024 happening in Mexico, a country freestylers from all the North American region can access more easily than the USA in 2023.

Besides the 1×1 Battles competition acting as the qualifier for the World Finals, the Pulse Córdoba 2024 week will also include the Pan American Freestyle Football Open, a tournament for all freestylers from the continent which will feature the following categories:

Routine: a showcase of individual mastery in which an athlete demonstrates their quality alongside their music to impress and entertain.
Double Routine: a spectacle of synchrony in which two athletes work together to show their most amazing moves combined.
Sick Three: a competition looking for the best combination of 3 consecutive tricks.
Challenge: athletes must complete tricks from a criteria list to pass through each round, getting progressively more difficult and a limited number of attempts; specially designed for lovers of fast combinations with the lower body.
Show Flow: a showcase of all the skills of Freestyle Football, connected in the most flawless possible way, in a show of a single minute
Iron Man & Woman: a marathon in basic lower body combinations and stamina – only for the toughest athletes!
Panna 1×1: a match between two players in which goals may count… but nutmegs are everything!

The signups process for this event will open on April 17th and close on September 17th; there will be no extensions, so all athletes who haven’t signed up by the end of the registration period will not be allowed to compete.

The best Freestyle Football in South America comes back to Argentina with Pulse Córdoba 2024

The World Freestyle Football Association has announced today the dates and format of WFFA Pulse Córdoba 2024, the official South American Freestyle Football Championship and the continental qualifier for the World Finals of the sport.

This extraordinary event, organised in partnership with the Argentinian federation, the Asociación Cordobesa de Futbol Freestyle (ACFF), will take place in the vibrant city of Córdoba, in the province of the same name, between September 25th and 29th, 2024.

Unlike last year, Pulse Córdoba 2024 will be open to South American freestylers only, following the Regional Division of the WFFA in place since early 2022. This change is due to Pulse CDMX 2024 happening in Mexico, a country freestylers from all the North American region can access more easily than the USA in 2023.

Besides the 1×1 Battles competition acting as the qualifier for the World Finals, the Pulse Córdoba 2024 week will also include the Pan American Freestyle Football Open, a tournament for all freestylers from the continent which will feature the following categories:

The venues of the different competitions, together with the lineup of judges and plenty of other details about this thrilling event, will be announced on the official channels of the WFFA and the ACFF in the coming weeks.

Steve Elias, president of the WFFA, said: “For us, it’s just marvellous to travel to Córdoba again after last year’s massive success. We are immensely thankful to the ACFF for their extraordinary job, as well as to the city council and its sports agency for their invaluable support. We have no doubt that the 2024 edition will be even more amazing than the first one!”.

Iris Santiago, secretary of the ACFF, declared: “Last year, we achieved one of our great challenges – providing a Continental Tournament where all the involved parties felt like true stars of the Freestyle Football World. Our city supports sports and gives us the opportunity to keep pushing to become a global reference point for Freestyle Football for all those who want to be part of this wonderful discipline. We will be happy to welcome all of South America to Pulse Córdoba 2024 and hope that the Pan-American Open Freestyle Football Tournament will also be a great challenge for all those who want to experience a week filled with all the extraordinary vibes that this great continent possesses.”

Héctor ‘Pichi’ Campana, Secretary of Sports of the Municipality of Córdoba, added: “It was a true honour to preside over the presentation of Pulse Córdoba 2023 last year. The good atmosphere and positive energy that was experienced there truly filled my soul. Freestyle Football is truly an art! We will accompany them again this year so that the competitors can enjoy another fantastic event and take away great memories of our city.”

The Asociación Cordobesa de Fútbol Freestyle (ACFF) is the first civil Association of this sport in Argentina. Since its establishment in 2018, the ACFF member athletes have been part of the Federation of Land Sports, which brings together several extreme and alternative sports, all working together with the support of government entities to promote and support the growth of Freestyle Football.

Pulse Algiers 2024

The global competitive circuit of the WFFA travels to Africa for yet another thrilling Freestyle Football competition: Pulse Algiers, the African qualifier for the Finals of the World Freestyle Football Championship, is around the corner!

This new instalment of the Pulse Series will feature an online qualifier and a live online Final:

The Online Qualifier will run between May 20th and June 21st and will help select the 24 best freestylers in Africa (16 men and 8 women)
The Final will be held online on October 24th on the official channels of the WFFA

This Pulse Event will host a 1×1 battles competition open to all freestylers from the African region. To ensure that their country is eligible for this competition, freestylers can check the official Regional Division of the WFFA.

The registration process for this event will open on March 26h and close on May 15th; there will be no extensions, so all athletes who haven’t signed up by the end of the registration period will not be allowed to compete.

Once the registration process is complete, all athletes will be contacted individually via WhatsApp with instructions on how to participate.

We expect all participants to sign up using the GameDay widget, the link to which is available above; however, if a freestyler finds issues in the payment process or doesn’t have the ability to pay via credit card or PayPal, we kindly ask them to send us an email at pulse-series@thewffa.org and we’ll find an alternative solution for them.

All athletes are reminded that it is not possible to participate in two Pulse Events in the same year; however, if a freestyler signs up for a qualifier and gets injured before having been able to compete in it, they will be allowed to move their registration to Pulse Online later in the year.

Athletes under the age of 18 will be allowed to participate, but they will need to upload a signed Parental Form at the end of the registration process. For more details, check the links below!

Pulse CDMX 2024

The global competitive circuit of the WFFA returns to the Americas for yet another thrilling Freestyle Football competition: Pulse CDMX, the North American qualifier for the Finals of the World Freestyle Football Championship, is around the corner!

This new instalment of the Pulse Series will take place in Mexico City, in Mexico, between July 27th and 28th. The best 4 freestylers (2 males and 2 females) will earn themselves a trip to the World Freestyle Football Championship!

This Pulse Event will host a 1×1 battles competition open to all freestylers from the North American region. To ensure that their country is eligible for this competition, freestylers can check the official Regional Division of the WFFA.

The signups process this event will open on March 14th and close on July 22nd; there will be no extensions, so all athletes who haven’t signed up by the end of the registration period will not be allowed to compete.

The WFFA has set up a refund policy for registrations for all Pulse Events: athletes who can’t travel due to a justified reason (i.e. sickness, injury or denial of travel visa) can ask for their money back, but in the case of the Mexico City event, only before June 25th.

We expect all participants to sign up using the GameDay widget, the link to which is available above; however, if a freestyler finds issues in the payment process or doesn’t have the ability to pay via credit card or PayPal, we kindly ask them to send us an email at pulse-series@thewffa.org and we’ll find an alternative solution for them.

The organising committee strongly recommends all athletes who need a visa to get their invitation letter first using the widget available below. Once they are cleared to travel, they may sign up as participants.
